Subsidies and Schemes

  • Facilitating funding for agri-businesses.

For most farms, the various grants and funding schemes offer a vital revenue stream for the business often being the difference between a profit or a loss.

  • Basic Payment Scheme

Bletsoes is a registered BPS agent with an unrivalled knowledge of the scheme and with considerable experience dealing with the RPA.

In addition to registering and applying for basic payments, we also annually undertake mapping changes, transfers of entitlements, the appeal process and dealing with any other queries that may arise, to help you avoid potential penalties; allowing you time to concentrate on what you do best.

  • Countryside Stewardship Agreements

Introduced in 2016, Countryside Stewardship is a 3-tier scheme that requires a cost benefit analysis to ensure the practicalities of your business are aligned with the financial returns.

We provide guidance on which tier to choose, assistance with the application and advise how this might affect your future BPS claims, existing farming practices or additional rural funding schemes.

Using the latest mapping and GPS software, we are able to maximize agricultural efficiency, whist ensuring a balanced return for the environment and your pocket alike. Taking into consideration previously unproductive areas, greening requirements and sporting pursuits, the income has a guaranteed term of 5 years.

  • Grant Funding

There are a vast number of grant funding schemes and opportunities available, however they are becoming more and more competitive. We offer assistance on the various options, eligibility and application dates for agri-environmental schemes and rural development grants. Our team has expert knowledge and experience of national and local funding, ensuring you get the best possible chance of success.

From project viability, through to grant applications and eventual project management, Bletsoes is here to help.

    Leader Funding Case Study

    MIDDLE EAST FARM EQUESTRIAN CENTRE

LEADER is part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE), and provides funding to local businesses and organisations to help them carry out projects which create jobs, help the business to grow and which benefit the local economy.

Middle East Farm Equestrian Centre received a £58,000 grant through LEADER to build a new indoor training area. The Equestrian Centre offers riding and livery services, however in the past lessons have had to be cancelled due to weather conditions as only outdoor facilities were available. LEADER funding has helped to change this.

Bletsoes became involved to assist with applying for a grant to build an indoor arena and stables. We requested an initial Expression of Interest Form which was submitted to the Peterborough Local Action Group (LAG) in November 2017. This outlined the business details, objectives, and proposed costs of the project. Based on the information we submitted, the application was endorsed to the next stage, the Full Application in January 2018.

The Full Application involved a more detailed outline of the project, providing a cash flow and quotes for the construction of the building.

The applicants were also required to apply for Planning Permission for the building which was permitted on 23rd March 2018.

After successfully submitting the Full Application to the LAG in April 2018, an approval letter and contract was received in June 2018.
